Vascular Surgeon**Basic Function**:
A vascular surgeon is a surgeon sub-specialist attending and consulting, vascular and endovascular services to patients of all ages in vascular surgery. He maintains efficient and effective care of patients as part of an integrated program of curative and preventive medical services. He attends ambulatory and hospital patients with surgical diseases of the vascular system both central and peripheral. He would also be involved in vascular access for hemodialysis, and involved in a vascular excluding: Coronary artery disease, Intra-cranial artery disease and Aortic arch vessel disease.

**Scope**:
Incumbents are responsible for attending ambulatory and hospitalized patients of any age group, including cases of all degrees of complexity, which are within their competence and expertise - surgeons work at Dhahran Hospital facility to meet established medical ethical and legal rules in the fields of its sub-specialties and by observing practices and procedures as required by Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare. Reports to, and is under the supervision of the Chair of Heart and Vascular Institute The applicable sub-specialty provides day-to-day work, including management and evaluation of the quality of patient care within their clinical privileges approved by the Credentials & Privileges Committee. The Physician Manager is informed of unusual problems or action taken regarding unusual cases, within their clinical privileges approved by the Credentials & Privileges Committee.

**Principal Contacts**:
Has daily contact with patients, family and visitors. Routine professional contacts are made with other physicians and nursing staff in conducting the duties of the position. Makes contact with Saudi Arabian medical facilities as required for information or advice, regarding clinical evaluation/follow-up of JHAH patients.

**Principal Duties**:

- Performs professional duties of a vascular and endovascular surgeon and provides expert medical-surgical care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients.
- Makes daily rounds related to assigned patients in the hospital, performs general and special examinations in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery.
- Serves as consultant to other medical services on in or out-patient cases.
- Assumes after-hours responsibility for the care of vascular cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
- Adheres to the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Chief of Staff Organization and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation also (CBAHI) regulations.
- Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding the medical repatriation of patients.
- Participates in and contributes to in-service activities such as lectures, conferences and to keep current on latest techniques, procedures and drug therapy.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Supervises the work of staff surgeons and interns and provides his evaluation to the Physician Manager of the service
- Consults with the anesthesiologist on the technique of anesthesia to be used.
- Participates in Hospital Committee functions as assigned and performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the Chief of Heart and Vascular Institute.
- Keeps confidentiality of the patient's disease and does not provide any medical summary if not authorized by the Medical Liaison Office and does not release information about patients over the telephone.
- Maintains complete and accurate records of all cases.
- Adapts to team work in the Heart and Vascular Institute and in Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare Organization.

**Experience**:

- Should have experience in all phases of vascular and endovascular surgery
- Minimum three years of practice in the field of vascular surgery following successful completion of fellowship

**Certifications/Other requirements as applicable**:

- Good command of oral and written English.
- Ability to adapt to group practice in an industrial environment involving and understanding of the JHAH Organization
