Facilitate risk assessment and control effectiveness assessment banking services & products (with focus on risks that are unique to the Sharia’a non-Compliance risk).
- Continuous monitoring of Operational risk profiles and controls effectiveness to facilitate efficient and effective management of Operational risks and Shariah non-compliance risks.
- Track resolution of status of Shariah non-compliant events.
- Engaging in Operational Risk & Sharia’a non-compliance risk awareness initiatives that aim to raise the Bank’s staff awareness of matters related to the Bank’s risk management culture and approach.
- Working in close coordination with the other risk management teams to avoid overlapping and ensure proper alignment.
- Investigate assigned operational incidents and ensure identification of incident’s root cause analysis and submissions of corrective action plans to avoid incidents re-occurrences.
- Aligning with the applicable Sharia’a Risk Management’s guidelines and best practices.
- Communicating with the other control functions in relation to reported issues across the Bank.
- Engaging with business lines, support and control functions for matters related to Operational risk & Sharia’a non-Compliance risk assessments and remediation.
- Complying with the approved assessment and classification criteria and reporting the results accordingly.
- Responding to Management’s ad-hoc requests and delivering the results in accordance with ORM reporting standards.
- Taking active part in discussions with business lines and support functions on matters relevant to system, procedural or practice deficiencies.
- Developing measurable Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) pertaining to Operational risk and Sharia’a non-Compliance risk, track all as per the defined frequency and ensure submissions of the required corrective action plans in case of KRI threshold breachs.
- Reviewing policies, procedures, charters, and products in line with ORM methodology.
- Report results of Operational & Sharia’a non-Compliance risks assessments to RMC & BRC.
- Follow up and monitor Sharia’a non-Compliance findings and support businesses to correct and close all findings.

- A. Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional degrees in domains related to Islamic Banking and/or Sharia’a risk management
- (2-3) years’ experience in Islamic Banking products, services and operations or in a Shari’a governance role within a control function (risk management, internal audit, external audit and compliance).
- Hands-on risk management/internal audit/compliance exposure over Bank’s Islamic products and services.
- Research and problem solving, investigation and synthesis skills.
- Data analytics, reporting, writing, communication and presentation skills.
- Well-versed decision-making skills.
- Ability to develop and enhance risk management and internal control policies and procedures.
- Preliminary knowledge of the applicable risk management regulatory guidelines and best practices.
