**Summary**:
Reporting to the Head of Environmental Delivery, the Environmental Engineer/ Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Project construction activities are carried out in accordance with THE LINE Project environmental and sustainability requirements and compliance obligations.
**Responsibilities**:
- Monitoring and verifying the environmental compliance of Project construction activities against relevant regulatory and project compliance obligations through various methods including performance of field inspections and audits of Contract works, review of environmental documents, data and information associated with environmental performance, coordination of progress meetings and day-to-day coordination with environmental professionals and Project teams.
- Monitoring the implementation of follow-up corrective actions.
- Leading or assisting with environmental incident response and root cause investigations and overseeing implementation of controls to prevent recurrence.
- Preparing or assisting with preparation of environmental performance summaries, reports, dashboards, etc.
- Reviewing Project requirements, performing gap assessments, preparing registers / logs / summaries in predefined formats.
- Analyzing environmental data and information, documenting findings, preparing requests for information (RFIs) or other queries.
- Preparing environmental training and awareness materials and delivering training to Project teams.
- Preparing, contributing to or updating planning documents including environmental plans and procedures, risk registers, compliance obligation registers, objectives, targets, KPIs, inspection and monitoring forms or logs.
- Assisting with the achievement of sustainability objectives, targets and KPIs as necessary.
- Performing any other duties as might be necessary to achieve the Project’s environmental and sustainability requirements, objectives and targets.
**Qualifications**:
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a physical or natural resource related scientific or engineering discipline including environmental/biological/geological sciences, environmental/geological/ chemical engineering etc. Advanced degree preferred.
- ISO 14001 EMS auditor certification.
- Hazardous waste management training (e.g., 40-Hr. Hazwoper, COSHH, etc.) an asset.
- Environmental certifications such as IEMA, CEnv., REP / REM, QAES, CPESC, etc. an asset.
- Management qualifications (PMP, MBA, other) an asset.
**Skills**:
- Required: 7 or more years of experience in civil infrastructure with at least 5 years in environmental compliance monitoring.
- Preferred: GCC experience.
- Experience carrying out environmental assessments and surveys would be an asset.
- Experienced in preparing and implementing environmental plans and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail
- ensures that work products are accurate, precise, and free of errors.
- Analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex problems.
- Carefully follows written and/or verbal instructions or directions. Asks for clarification, if necessary.
- Good planning and time management skills
- able to prioritize and complete tasks within required timeframes.
- Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills in the English language.
- Works well in a team environment and respectfully and effectively collaborates with persons from diverse ethnic and socio-cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrates integrity, fairness, and professionalism in all interactions.
