**Basic Function**:
Performs all routine functions of central sterile processing and distribution segments. Provides work direction to Associate IRC technicians. Assists in all areas in Central Supply Services and Operating Room that require Central Supply Services technician support.

**Scope**:
The work is in Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare Dental Services, Instrument Recirculation Centers (IRC) in Dhahran, Al Hasa, Udhailiyah, Ras Tanura, and Abqaiq.

Under the guidance and work direction of the Senior Dental IRC Technician, processes reusable items through decontamination, sorting, packaging sterilizing and storing procedures. Prepares case carts. May be assigned to other duties as required in any CSS specialty area.

Is a shift worker as required. Work is performed in any JHAH facility.

**Principal Contacts**:
Routine daily contact with Dental IRC staff, hospital and clinic staff, and auxiliary dental/medical personnel. Occasional contact with clinicians and customers. Daily contact with Senior Dental IRC Technician and/or Supervisor Dental IRC.

**Principal Duties**:

- Works under direction of a registered nurse or Senior Dental IRC Technician.
- Maintains current knowledge base and seeks new learning experience.
- Demonstrates ability to complete all functions normally provided by the Central Supply Service Technician in both Processing and Dispensing areas.
- Plans and directs the processing, preparation, storing, dispensing, checking and ordering of supplies and equipment.
- Participates and assists the segment staff in carrying out the function of the segment (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation).
- Makes verbal/written reports to the segment head regarding the condition and functioning of the equipment in the assigned area, e.g., in processing: sterilizers, aerators, washers/sterilizers computer terminals and printers.
- Participates in the unit orientation of new staff and acts as mentor when appropriate or assigned.
- Keeps aware of safety hazards in the segment and takes necessary corrective action to prevent accidents.
- Use appropriate computerized ordering system.
- Attends safety and in service education programs.
- Applies quality assurance programs as appropriate.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of; patient interventions and procedures, data sheets, specimen/laboratory slips, equipment sent for repair, and other required documentation, such as; check lists and log books.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient record and activities.
- Learns and keeps current with the name of equipment and supplies and is familiar with location of same.
- Conducts routine inspection of all equipment used in Dental IRC area.
- Maintains awareness of safety hazards and takes necessary action to prevent accidents.
- Maintains job certification and professional license.

**Education**:

- Completion of 12th Grade High School and 2 year course in Allied Health Institute; OR
- Completion of a 12-month Unit and Hospital orientation / competency based training program approved by Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare Nursing Department.

**Experience**:
Minimum 3 years as Work experience required is 3-5 years as Central Supply Service technician in any approved medical facility.

**Certifications/Other requirements as applicable**:

- Successful completion of Certified Registered Central Service Technician examination.
- Holds a valid Ministry of Health License.
- Basic computer skills desirable.
- Working knowledge of spoken and written English.
- Spoken Arabic is desirable.
