The IT Specialist is responsible for maintaining and improving the organization's IT infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, ensuring network security, and providing technical support to staff. The IT Specialist will work closely with the IT team to implement technology solutions that meet the organization's needs and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:
Provide technical assistance to employees for computer hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Resolve technical problems through diagnostics, troubleshooting, and timely repair or replacement of IT equipment.
System Administration:
Manage and maintain the organization's servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure.
Monitor system performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
Perform regular backups and restoration processes.
Network Security:
Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's data and IT systems.
Monitor for security breaches and respond to any incidents.
Keep antivirus software up to date and perform regular security audits.
Software Management:
Manage software licenses and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
Hardware Management:
Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and peripherals.
Manage hardware inventory and coordinate with vendors for procurement.
Perform regular maintenance and upgrades on IT equipment.
Project Support:
Assist in the planning and implementation of IT projects.
Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and provide solutions.
Document and report on project progress and outcomes.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of IT issues and resolutions.
Prepare and update IT documentation, including user manuals and system configurations.
Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, and IT activities.
Qualifications:
**Education**:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
**Experience**:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support or a related role.
Experience with system administration, network management, and IT security.
**Skills**:Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
Knowledge of network protocols, hardware, and software.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certifications:
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are preferred.
Work Environment:
The IT Specialist will work in an office environment with regular working hours. Occasional after-hours work may be required for system maintenance or to address urgent technical issues.
Physical Requirements:
The role may require lifting and moving IT equipment, and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on computers.
