**Public Works creates healthy and livable communities through economic development, environmental stewardship and advancement of a multimodal transportation network.**

**This position is located at the Public Works Facility, 1600 Prairie Drive in Medina, MN (seven miles west of Interstate 494 on State Highway 55). There is no public transportation to this facility. There will also be a rotation to work out of our downtown office in Minneapolis.**

**The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include**:

- Provide IT operations support for desktop, periphery hardware, and complex systems deployed within and throughout public works using a ticketing system to track and manage incidents and requests.
- Provide after hours on-call support for Public Works critical systems.
- Work on IT project teams for small to medium IT projects throughout the project life cycle in various roles and perform tasks that could include research, technical analysis business process analysis, specifications documentation, product/solution recommendations, planning and implementation.
- Serve as a liaison between the department users and the county’s enterprise IT.
- Formulate plans and proposals for infrastructure maintenance, replacements, and modification to include testing of involved hardware and software.
- Participate in process improvement activities by working with teams to troubleshoot, problem solve and solution business processes.
- Represent Public Works IT Division within assigned IT and related task forces, workgroups, and/or committees within the department, county, and outside the county.
- Provide mentoring sessions with the user community and other IT staff delivering training, information, and best practices regarding IT systems deployed within the business line.
- One of the following:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technology field **and** one year or more of IT experience.
- An approved IT certificate **and** two years or more of IT experience.
- Completion of five or more college/vocational technical courses **and** two years or more of IT experience.
- Completion of approved IT Hennepin County internship of 240 hours or more **and** two years or more of IT experience.
- Four years or more of IT experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver’s permit within six months of employment.
- Two or more years of experience:

- In a desktop support area providing problem analysis resolution, escalation, and follow-up for Microsoft technologies.
- Utilizing remote desktop tools for troubleshooting and problem resolution of end user devices.
- In the installation, and support of desktop software and systems, specifically Microsoft technologies, such as Lync, Outlook, SharePoint, Windows 10, Active directory and group policies.
- Knowledge of:

- Windows 10 operating systems, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Server 2012/2014/2016, and/or VMware, and technical level support.
- Desktop engineering concepts; use other tools such as Active Directory, Hyena or other Active Directory interface.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and decision making skills.
- Strong skills in writing documentation for both end-user instructional and technical audiences; ability to successfully work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively with an increasingly diverse client population.
- Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate.
