Bell Captain

The Bell Captain is a senior member of the Bell services, and is always ready to offer a professional service experience to all guests. He/She ensures that service standards meet or exceed expectations. The Bell Captain has knowledge of all departments in the property through regular contact and meetings. The Bell Captain may also be involved in security matters within the property.

The Bell Captain’s main duties include coordinating all bell services. This may involve tasks such as luggage service and storage, handling messages, and assigning work duties and schedules of Bell Attendants/Bell Hops. He/She oversees the grooming of bell staff. He/She also has to keep a well-groomed and tidy appearance with a pleasant and friendly attitude.

The Bell Captain should also be able to perform manual duties, which may involve a lot of walking and lifting baggage. It is preferred that a Bell Captain has prior working experience as a Bell Attendant/Bell Hop. He/She acts as a mentor to coach bell staff on their performance and all aspects of bell services. The Bell Captain should have a good command of English. He/She should also have knowledge of a second language or local dialects to interact with both local and overseas guests. This knowledge also enables him/her to attend to guest requests and complaints in an efficient manner.
