**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The **Fellow - Petrochemicals **will cover developments in the downstream oil and gas industry as it relates to the petrochemical supply chain. This includes analysis of the supply and demand of feedstocks, chemicals and plastics, and their economic feasibility/margins and trade prospects. The Fellow will also analyze the role of technology and policy in enhancing the long-run sustainability of the petrochemical industry, and assess the challenges and opportunities for the industry in Saudi Arabia and abroad; e.g., the effects of ESG, the circular carbon economy and the energy transition.

**Responsibilities**:

- Analyze the effects of feedstocks and products demand and supply dynamics on pricing
- Monitor evolving market trends on new and expanded petrochemical capacities
- Follow the impact of the energy transition on integration opportunities between refining and petrochemical operations
- Evaluate the roles of trade and environmental policies on petrochemical sector investments
- Analyze the implications of existing and emerging regulations and producer responsibility requirements on petrochemical derivatives and plastics markets
- Investigate impacts of circular economy models within the petrochemical value chain, including waste management
- Design and conduct applied research on the above topics
- Prepare publications (reports, market analysis, research papers) Contribute to advisory projects for the Saudi energy sector

**Competencies & Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Economics, Engineering, or energy-related relevant fields
- Min 8-10 years of research or industry experience in the downstream and petrochemical sectors
- Good command of techno-economic and/or modeling analysis of petchem sector
- Consultancy experience would be an advantage
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
- Good communication skills and enthusiastic team player
