Responsible for verifying medication orders, dispensing medications, counseling patients, preparation/filling orders and prescriptions, compounding of sterile and non-sterile medications including anti-neoplastic agents, in accordance with accepted standards and established pharmacy policies and procedures.
**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
Compounds and dispenses medications and prescriptions in accordance with accepted standards and established Pharmacy procedures.
**Education**:
Pharm.D or Bachelor’s Degreein Pharmacy is required.
**Experience Required**:
Performs professional work in the compounding and dispensing of medications in unit dose and I.V. admixture. Reviews and interprets physicians drug orders for clarity, rationality, dosage form, allergies, interactions, incompatibility, etc. Answers physicians inquiries regarding drugs. Maintains control and security of all drugs including dispensing, record keeping and secured storage of narcotics and contolled medications. Dispenses outpatients prescriptions. Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of TPN and I.V. admixtures including chemotherapeutic agents. Provides drug information and assists in instructing nursing and medical staff and pharmacy students. Performs inspection of nursing units, discusses service problems with Head Nurses, and recommends solutions to Pharmacy Manager. Assists with special projects as necessary. Participates in self and others professional development. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
**Other Requirements(Certificates)**:
Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy required.
