- The Design Manager will be tasked with managing and coordinating all design activities associated with a project for Transportation and Land Development Schemes.**Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below**:
- Technically lead multi-disciplinary teams to achieve the project requirements,
- Day to day management/coordination of all design engineering activities, including stakeholder management, budget control and reporting,
- Regular liaison with Contractor’s/Client’s representatives for all design engineer activities,
- Ensure proper controls are in place for all disciplines for the review and approval of deliverables i.e. QA/QC, contract compliance etc.
- Ensure Discipline progress control and reporting to the Project Principal and Client’s representative,
- Manage the scope of work and ensure compliant of the project requirements through the delivery of design deliverables,
- Identify and report any scope changes (variations) to the Project Manager and/or Commercial team,
- Monitor the project’s progress and the allocation of resources for the design activities to achieve the required timeframes,
- Work with the project team members to ensure that Technical issues are clearly communicated and resolved,
- Produce and manage Design Management Plans and ensure its continuing effectiveness,
- Assess staff competency for project activities,
- Act as a role model and provide on the job training to early career professionals,
- Identify and manage delivery of information required by the project teams and Clients,
- monitor design progress against agreed timelines,
- Monitor and manage design resource requirements for the delivery of the project,
- Identify risks and opportunities associated with design activities, identify mitigation items and ensure that these are communicated to the Project Manager and Project Principal regularly,
- Ensuring Mott MacDonald’s best practices are implemented in an effective and economic manner,
- Lead design review and report on any recommendation that can aid with delivery and the project’s financials,
- Responsible for the distribution of engineering tasks amongst project design team.**Role Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar relevant engineering discipline; Licensed / registered engineer with a recognized authority,
- Familiarity with international design review standards,
- Experience within a consultancy environment specifically within the transport industry,
- Ability to work on own initiative without supervision,
- Continuously looking for innovations and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across individuals, teams and projects.
- Using leadership skills to build and nurture relationships and also creating effective working environments,
- Able to manage multiple teams with diverse backgrounds on geographically and culturally diverse teams,
- Adopting an adaptive mindset and using strategic and critical thinking to approach problems in a new way,
- Ability to deal efficiently with priorities and manage time appropriately,
- Advanced level proficiency with all MS Office products and other industry-standard software and IT platforms,
- A dedicated team player with strong interpersonal skills,
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels including external stakeholders,
- Ensure MacDonald HSE policies are at the forefront of all activities,
- Adopting a proactive approach towards complex tasks and overall delivery,
