**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide instruction in American English language articulations, fluency, and sound quality.
- Communicate course requirements, objectives, theory, and content clearly and effectively.
- Utilize principles, practices, and techniques of English as a Second Language (ESL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in teaching.
- Teach ESL/EFL to adult learners ranging from basic elementary to advanced English levels.
- Plan, prepare, and coordinate instructional activities tailored for adult students.
- Create and manage student assessment techniques and objectives, including test and measurement principles.
- Assist in the development and improvement of curriculum design, training materials, instructional delivery, and student administration.
- Prepare lesson plans by selecting and adapting instructor texts and guides.
- Develop plans of instruction for class-specific exercises.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- **Educational Requirements**:

- Possess a 4-year degree in ESL, EFL, Linguistics, Foreign Languages, TESOL, or a related field.
- Degree must be conferred by an institution accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- **Foreign Education**: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements, provided persuasive evidence is presented to demonstrate equivalence to a U.S. education program.
- **Experience**:

- At least one year of specialized experience in English language instruction.
- Specialized experience includes:

- Providing ESL/EFL instruction to a diverse student body.
- Teaching ESL/EFL to adults from basic elementary to advanced English levels.
- Planning, preparing, and coordinating instructional activities for adult students.
- Creating and managing student assessments.
- Assisting in the development and improvement of curriculum design, training materials, and instructional delivery.
- Preparing lesson plans and developing plans of instruction for specific class exercises.
- **Training**:

- Must complete the Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC)’s Familiarization with the American Language Course (ALC) or Observer Professional Training.
- The Familiarization course can be delivered at the DLIELC resident campus or in-country at OPM-SANG or MNG facilities.
- **Evaluation**:

- Instructors will be formally evaluated at least twice a year using the DLIELC’s Instructor Performance Evaluation Rubric (IPER).
- **Language Proficiency**:

- Must be a native speaker of American English.
