Electroneurodiagnostic Technician**Job Code**:

**Basic Function**:
This position functions in the neuro-lab or surgical operating room collecting patient's electroneurodiagnostic data. This data will then be assigned and interpreted by the appropriate supervising professional.

**Scope**:
Performs Electroneurodiagnostic studies on patients eligible for care in JHAH facilities. Receives technical supervision from Physician/Neurophysiologist or appropriate specialist. Reports to supervisor, Neuroscience Institute.

**Principal Contacts**:
Has daily direct contact with physicians, nurses, and patients in providing electroneurodiagnostic studies.

**Principal Duties**:

- Performs varied and complex procedures including Somatosensory Evoked Potentials, Visual & Auditory Evoked Potentials, Facial nerve monitoring, Electroencephalogram (EEG), Electromyogram (EMG) and other related neurodiagnostic test.
- Possesses the skill of accurate and stable electrode placement for recording and stimulating.
- Recognize proficiently the recorded waveforms and understand how to optimize them.
- Carries out the neurodiagnostic procedures performed and is aware of existing guidelines that apply.
- Identify technical and physiological problems during examination in complex environments such as intensive care units, bedside, emergency units and operating rooms.
- Calibrates and operates the electro neurodiagnostic instrumentation.
- Possesses knowledge about the use of collodion, acetone, or other biohazardous or flammable materials.
- Troubleshoots and corrects any recording instrument malfunction.

**Education**:

- 2 years Diploma degree in related field
- Certification/competency in one or more neurodiagnostic modalities
- Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.

**Experience**:
Must have a minimum of three years of experience in routine electroneurodiagnostic testing under the supervision of a qualified physician/neurophysiologist

**Certifications/Other requirements as applicable**:
Appropriate modality certification from credible association in individuals home country (for example North American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET), Registered Electroencephalogram Technologists (R.EEG T), Regostered Evoked Potential Technologists (R. EP T), Certified in Neurophysiological Interoperative Monitoring (CNIM), etc )
