The WSP Middle East Environmental team is currently seeking to recruit an experienced terrestrial ecologist with background in biodiversity surveys and monitoring to be project-based in KSA for a period of 2 Years
**Your new role, what's involved?**
- Preparing Technical Reports Detailing Monitoring Activities
- Administrative Duties: Prepare accurate reports, maintain records, handle equipment, and manage administrative tasks related to job function.
- Carry out field surveys for biodiversity monitoring
- Survey and ground-truthing of national park boundaries
- Collaborate with team members in the development of project deliverables.
- Utilize topographic maps, GPS devices, and other tools during fieldwork activities.
- Safely operate vehicles, including 4-wheel drive vehicles, for fieldwork and site visits.
- Coordinate field crew activities, including mobilization and data collection efforts.
- Conduct research, data synthesis, and basic analysis to support project objectives.
- Communicate effectively with clients and other authority representatives throughout project lifecycles.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and oversee their implementation in the field.

**We'd love to hear from you if you have**:

- Good command of Arabic, spoken and written
- Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate 4WD vehicles.
- Very good knowledge of methods in biodiversity monitoring (sampling design, field surveys, analysis, species identification)
- Fieldwork experience, and must be familiar with different census techniques, notably camera trapping, and one of the other census techniques (birds, small mammals, bats, reptiles)
- Experience in data handling and analysis
- Capability to conduct fieldwork in various conditions and terrains.
- Experience in data management and analysis.
- Experience in drafting Biodiversity Monitoring Reports with little or no supervision
- Have experience of above 3 years in managing other field staff
- Willingness and availability to be based in a remote location in KSA for a period of 2 years
- Experience in designing and planning biodiversity surveys.
- Strong report writing skills, attention to detail and ability to write concise reports in English.
- Proficiency in GPS devices, digital data collection, and mapping software such as ArcGIS
- Team player, with the ability to work comfortably within multi-cultural teams.
- 10-12 years’ experience.
