**Job Summary**: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Specialty Coffee Head Barista to serve as both a leader behind the bar and an in-house trainer. You'll expertly craft beverages, guide the barista team towards mastery, and possess the technical knowledge to perform routine espresso machine maintenance. This role is pivotal in ensuring our commitment to consistently excellent coffee and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Prepare a full range of espresso-based drinks and pour-over coffee with expertise, speed, and adherence to precise recipes.
- Calibrate and dial-in espresso grinders, ensuring optimal extraction and flavor profiles.
- Monitor and consistently uphold high beverage quality standards.
- Develop and conduct barista training programs covering coffee knowledge, brewing techniques, latte art, and customer service excellence.
- Mentor baristas, guide their growth, and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Cultivate a positive and collaborative learning environment within the coffee team.
- Perform daily cleaning and preventative maintenance of espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting and identify maintenance needs to ensure machine longevity.
- Maintain an inventory of essential cleaning and maintenance supplies.
- Share coffee knowledge with customers, offering recommendations and insights into brewing methods.
- Provide exceptional customer service that builds a sense of community around specialty coffee.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum of 5 years of specialty coffee barista experience, with proven skills in espresso, pour-over, and latte art.
- **SCA Certification (or equivalent) strongly preferred.**:
- Demonstrated experience in training and mentoring others.
- In-depth knowledge of specialty coffee beans, flavor profiles, and brewing techniques.
- Working knowledge of espresso machine function, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Enthusiasm for staying updated on coffee trends and techniques.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with equipment repair for small-scale espresso machines and grinders.
- Familiarity with coffee roasting techniques.
