Assists, evaluates, and treatspatients with lower, upper extremity, and spinal disorders and also patientswith amputations of lower and upper extremities.
**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
1. Coordinates with physicians in order toformulate specifications and prescriptions for Orthopedic and/or prostheticdevices.
2. Designs Orthopedic and prosthetic devices,based on physicians' prescriptions, and examination and measurement ofpatients.
3. Examines, interviews, and measures patientsin order to determine their appliance needs, and to identify factors that couldaffect appliance fit.
4. Makes and modifies plaster casts of areasthat will be fitted with prostheses or orthoses, for use in the deviceconstruction process.
5. Selects materials and components to beused, based on device design.
6. Fits, tests, and evaluates devices onpatients, and makes adjustments for proper fit, function, and comfort.
7. Instructs patients in the use and care oforthoses and prostheses.
8. Trains and supervises Orthopedic andProsthetic Assistants, Technicians, and other support staff.
9. Updates skills and knowledge by attendingworkshops and seminars.
10. Maintains patient records.
11. Participates in self and others' education,training and development, as applicable.
12. Follows all Hospital related policies andprocedures.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
**Education**:
Master’s, Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Prosthetics/Orthotics or both from a recognized institution is required.
**Experience Required**:
Four (4) year’s with Master’s in Prosthetics/Orthotics or six (6) years’ experience ofsimilar requirements with Bachelor’s degree is required.
**Other Requirements(Certificates)**:
Certified oreligible to be certified by American, European, or Australian board.
