- Works for Asst. Chief of Prevention in both operations and the fire department prevention program. Maintains prevention records on all assigned structures and advises the Prevention Officer on what requirements that MNG AVN needs to meet and maintain compliance to meet local standards.**Major Duties and Responsibilities**
- A. Duties/Responsibilities:
- 1. May work under the direction of the Lieutenants in operations within the ICS system and Asst Chief of Prevention in the prevention program of the fire department at the assigned duty location.- 2. This includes ensuring that alarm systems, and fire suppression systems are functioning properly and extinguishers are adequate and rated for the spaces they are being utilized in.- 3. May be required to perform technical review of new construction or facility modifications- 4. Responsible for performing fire and life safety training.- 5. Serves as an instructor and mentor to MNG Firefighters assigned to the department.- 6. Works with the Asst. Chief of Prevention in developing operations guidelines, prevention guidelines and SOGs.- 7. Primary function of this position is Fire Inspector but compliments the on duty emergency response force as required.- 8. Maintain adequate resources and ensure they are maintained in proper operation and in a mission ready state at all times.- 9. Meets and maintains requirements for training hours both for emergency services as fire prevention and relevant certifications.- 10. Maintain files and records on equipment used in all aspects of the fire prevention program.- 11. Participate in weekly all hands fire department meetings with the fire chief.- 12. Create and maintain weekly and monthly reports in support of the prevention program activities working under the guidance of the fire prevention officer.- 13. Ensures internal prevention program events and customer prevention program events are conducted under the direction of the fire prevention officer.- 14. Maintains liaison with KAA fire department prevention program services.- 15. Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner.- 16. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.-
- 18. All other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief.- B. Independence: Reports to Asst. Chief of Fire Prevention of Aviation. Works within the rules and regulations of airfield flight operations and safety guidelines and applicable firefighting and emergency services guidelines. Has the authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities of the fire department under the direction of the fire chief.- C. Supervisory Responsibilities: May be required to serve as a Lead Inspector in the absence of the Asst. Chief of Fire Prevention.**Minimum Qualifications**
- A. Education Level:
- 1. High School graduate required; associates degree or higher preferred.- 2. International Fire Service Accreditation Congress certification, DoD and/or ProBoard required.- 3. Firefighter Level II required.- 4. ARFF Firefighter required.- 5. Hazardous Materials Operations required.- 6. ARFF Driver Operator preferred.- 7. Fire Inspector I.- 8. Fire Inspector II or higher preferred.- 9. Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) required - Emergency Medical Technician Certification issued by a State Agency or the National Registry preferred.- B. Experience:
- 1. Minimum of five (5) years’ firefighting experience in a civilian or military aviation firefighting role.- C. Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:
- 1. Expert knowledge of aircraft rescue and firefighting techniques, practices and equipment, as well as first aid and CPR.- 2. Considerable knowledge of the design and characteristics of military and civilian rotary wing aircraft.- 3. Considerable knowledge of exit and safety procedures of various military and civilian rotary wing aircraft, and structural fire/alarm detection / suppression systems.- 4. Ability to quickly perform and direct all functions in difficult and hazardous situations, without hesitation.- 7. Ability to lead in potentially dangerous situations and make quick and sound decisions.- 8. Ability to perform physically demanding work and withstand very hazardous conditions.- 9. Skill in the operation of aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment, tools and vehicles, including highly specialized firefighting apparatus.- 10. Ability to conduct inspections under the Fire Prevention Officer to the Inspector I level.
