**3. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS**:
**Qualification**:
Bachelor's degree in fire science, fire engineering, occupational health and safety, or related field.

Professional certification as a Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Certified Fire Protection Engineer (CFPE), or equivalent is highly desirable.

**Experience**:
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in fire prevention, protection, and emergency response, with progressive leadership responsibilities in fire safety management, preferably in the mining industry or related heavy industry.

Experience in emergency response planning, incident command, and crisis management, and the ability to coordinate and manage fire incidents and emergencies effectively, including directing fire operations, coordinating resources, and communicating with stakeholders.

**Skills**:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate fire safety concepts and procedures to diverse stakeholders, and build positive relationships with internal departments, external agencies, and community partners.

Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess fire risks, conduct fire hazard assessments, and develop and implement strategies and solutions to mitigate fire hazards and enhance fire safety and prevention measures.

**4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
**Operational / Functional**

Develop and implement fire prevention, protection, and emergency response programs to safeguard personnel, facilities, and equipment from fire risks and hazards, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Conduct fire risk assessments, inspections, and audits to identify potential fire hazards, assess fire protection measures, and recommend corrective actions and improvements to enhance fire safety and prevention measures.

Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to implement fire protection systems and measures, including fire detection and suppression systems, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and emergency evacuation procedures, to mitigate fire risks and ensure readiness for fire emergencies.

Develop and implement fire safety policies, procedures, and guidelines, including fire prevention measures, evacuation plans, emergency response protocols, and fire drills, and provide training and awareness programs to educate personnel on fire safety practices and procedures.

Lead and manage the site fire brigade or emergency response team, including recruitment, training, and certification of personnel, and conduct regular drills, exercises, and simulations to ensure readiness and effectiveness in responding to fire incidents and emergencies.

Establish and maintain partnerships and collaboration with external agencies, including fire departments, emergency services, and regulatory authorities, to coordinate mutual aid agreements, emergency response plans, and resources for firefighting and emergency support.

Conduct investigations and root cause analyses of fire incidents and near misses to identify underlying causes, contributing factors, and lessons learned, and implement corrective actions and improvements to prevent recurrence and enhance fire safety and prevention measures.

Manage and maintain fire protection equipment, systems, and infrastructure, including fire trucks, hoses, hydrants, and fire suppression agents, and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules, inspections, and testing requirements.

Develop and manage the fire department budget, including resource allocation, procurement of equipment and supplies, and expenditure tracking, and provide regular reports and updates to senior management on fire safety performance, initiatives, and compliance.

Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in fire safety and emergency response, and provide recommendations and guidance to senior management on best practices, innovations, and strategies to enhance fire safety and protection measures.
