Senior Histotechnologist

Performs avariety of Histo-chemical, Microscopic, and Immunological, procedures/testingin the Clinical Laboratory to obtain accurate data for diagnosis and treatmentof disease.

**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
1. Preparesmicroscopic slides from specimens of scrapings, or other exudates foranalysis, and fixes themto determine the presence orabsence of disease Stains and mountslides to preserve specimen and enhance visibility of cells under themicroscope.

2. Prepares andHistological processess of all surgical pathology specimens in preparation forpathologist review and diagnosis.

3. Ensuresoptimum levels of supplies are available to provide uninterrupted services;assists in ordering supplies and maintains the supply inventory system.Operates within cost effective practices of section.

4. Assists inthe evaluation of new methodologies/equipment. Assists in the revision ofpolicy and procedure manuals in accordance with specified guidelines.

5. Performsminor gross descriptions, frozen section, cutting of paraffin blocks, routinehematoxylin and eosin staining as well as hitochemical stains.

6. Performsspecialized task (Immunohistochemical stains, muscle histochemistry, in-situhybridization, Immunoflourescence) after proper training.

7. Maintainsrecords as per Hospital established Medical Laboratory standards. Operates andmaintains laboratory equipment.

8. MaintainsQuality Control programs of the section and participates in the QualityAssurance programs of the department.

9. Assists inmaintaining accreditation standards, to include all check sheets and qualitycontrol information sheets.

10. Comply withthe section policies, procedures and protocols. follow the section qualityimprovement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA and other internationalaccreditation agencies standards.

**Education**:
Master’s, or Bachelor’sDegree in Medical Technology or isrequired.

**Experience Required**:
**Grade 09**:
Two (2) years ofexperience in Histology with Master’s or four (4) years with Bachelor’s Degreeis required.

**Grade 10**:
**Four (4) years SeniorHistotechnologist at KFSH&RC,**
**or (Grade 09) related experience is required.**

Average of annualperformance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.

Onehundred (100) hours of cumulative continued medicaleducation [CME].

**Other Requirements(Certificates)**:
Current Registration from country of origin and SaudiCommission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.

Registration as HTL (ASCP) or HT(ASCP), AIMLS,AIMS, or NZIMLT is preferred.
