At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation, and storage solutions space. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.

We are currently looking for a Site Instrumentation and Control Engineer to be based at our Project Site. The Site I&C Engineer will be part of the on-site team of engineers led by the Project Manager who will have responsibility for the Owner’s Engineering team. Office based engineering design staff will also provide support to the site team in case of design changes which may arise during site execution and may affect the basic design of the plant.

Responsibilities not limited to;
- Conduct detailed reviews of resource loaded baseline schedules from designers and contractors. Evaluates compliance with contract milestones, and assesses logic dependencies, start/finish dates, and the capacity of the assigned resources to complete activities within the specified durations.
- Provide HSSE leadership to the Owner’s team and contractor personnel.
- Liaise with EPC Contractors personnel to ensure correct procedures and standards are used.
- Review of construction Method Statements and Risk Assessments, work, and test procedures, etc. provided by the EPC Contractor.
- Support to the head office design review process as required or requested.
- Responsible for issuing and following up of any NCRs.
- Monitor receipt and storage of equipment on site, prior to installation.
- Monitor condition of equipment post installation, to ensure no damage or deterioration.
- Lead the monitoring of I&C erection and commissioning of the following:
1.1.1. DCS

1.1.2. Equipment/plant specific PLCs.

1.1.3. Installation and tie-ins to existing electrical and control systems at power station.

1.1.4. Installation of control devices and equipment, and installation termination of cabling.

1.1.5. Witnessing of testing - SATs for the DCS and other equipment.

1.1.6. Monitoring system completion, and system turn-over to commissioning.

1.1.7. Monitoring control by the EPC contractor of any software modifications during commissioning.

1.1.8. Coordinate with the OE team electrical engineers.
- Develop and maintain a punch list of open items through construction. Carry out surveillance and inspection of the construction and commissioning processes at all stages, undertake walk downs of all systems and equipment at appropriate time and manage punch lists of issues and incomplete items for resolution by the EPC Contractor.
- Maintains communication with Client’s Operation, Maintenance and HSE teams.

- Degree qualified in Engineering with proven experience for large process plant or power projects as an instrument & control engineer.
- Degree qualified instrument and control (I&C) engineer
- Experience of construction of coal fired power plants.
- Strong communication skills - ability to communicate well and accurately, both verbally and written English.
