**Role Purpose**:
To work as a member of the Business Operations to ensure smooth and efficient running of British Council resources and services which meet corporate standards. These include procurement and administration services and processes that meet corporate standards; facilities and HR services to support the operation in meeting country and regional objectives; as well as to maintain an appropriate working environment for staff and visitors, which is safe, comfortable and efficient and makes a positive statement about Britain and British Council to clients, customers and staff.

**Main Accountabilities**:
In line with EO&D and other overarching corporate policies

**System and network administration**
- Provide technical and administrative support to IT service delivery by identifying, investigating and resolving technical problems
- Manage the maintenance, identification and resolution of network problems
- Process IT related incidents via the standard Incident Management process
- Manage liaison with suppliers and users, monitoring day to day performance and investigates delivery problems
- Implement updates, changes and patches to the countries IT infrastructure and services as advise by HUB

**Application and User Support**
- Respond to queries and provide guidance and advice on IT related issues (such as user change requests, quality standards, IT Training
- Ensure that all requests for new software are submitted to GSD for testing
- Management of staff mobile phones and data packages efficiently
- Management of IT inventory
- Management of office PABX, Contact Center systems
- Management of staff mobile phones and other technical equipment like photocopiers, access control and CCTV.

**Compliance**
- Knowledge of the Council’s IT policies and standards in relevant areas (e.g. Data Protection; Standards on the use of Council IT systems and equipment
- Monitor compliance with IT policies and procedures (Software, Web Filtering, etc), and advise country management of any necessary action for non-compliance
- Assist with IT reviews as scheduled by the Regional Hub
- Maintain anti-virus solution, manage outbreaks according to BC standard process
- Ensuring staff are familiar with security standards, including data protection, and reporting suspected or actual security breaches

**Financial support**
- In collaboration with local finance team provide input for the IT yearly budgets
- Manage the expenditure of the set budgets
- Manage the procurement, repair and disposal of computer equipment and storage of spares in line with Council standards
- Monitors contracts and evaluates performance of IT suppliers, services and products
- Act as OM role
- CIAMM

**Business/Decision Support**
- Negotiation with local equipment suppliers and manage 3rd party technical support contracts and services, including initial drafting and negotiation
- Raise Change Requests on behalf of the local office
- Providing technical assurance as a member of local project boards or teams
- Contributing IT elements to the country planning process
- Stimulating improvements to management or operational practices through the identification of GTI-compliant IT innovations
- Provide local support of global IT initiatives and Projects.
- Be an advisory to local management of information regarding overseas implications of changes/upgrades

**About You (essential requirements for the role)**:

- The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required. Proficient in English language (CEFR C1 or above) and excellent report writing skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification/ diploma in Information Technology
- Minimum 2 years demonstrable experience in Support Co-ordination experience in an IT services organisation Experience of managing IT network
- Self-Driven and attention to detail High level of integrity and deadline oriented

**Desirable requirements for the role**
- Master's degree
