HPC Consultant

This role has been designated as ‘Edge’, which means you will primarily work outside of an HPE office.

This position within the Hewlett Packard Enterprise organization requires excellent customer service skills in combination with experience of High Performance Computing installations.

The primary focus of this role is to develop a trusted relationship with a a key client in the oil and gas industry and to act as a single point of contact between the customer, our service delivery partner and the support teams within Hewlett Packard Enterprise. It will be necessary to provide technical guidance to the service partner and ensure that maintenance activities are well planned communicated to all stakeholders and professionally managed.
Specific tasks will include interacting with the customer’s case management System, responding to inquiries, handling requests from support groups and performing data movement activities when required.

Communication within HPE will be a key responsibility and will include the initiation of technical and management escalations when required.

How you’ll make your mark:

- You will be a single point of contact for customer related issues, understand their environment and guide our service partner to ensure that maintenance activities are well planned and professionally managed
- You will develop a trusted relationship with our customer and act as a liaison between the customer, our service delivery partner and teams within HPE.
- You'll provide reports and documentation to the customer about root cause analysis and suggestions to resolve/ avoid.
- You will interact with the customer case management system, respond to inquiries, handle requests from support groups and perform data movement activities when required.
- You will facilitate the success of other parts of the business through joint problem solving, knowledge sharing and proactive activities.

About you:

- You have a Bachelor degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent.
- You have 6+ years experience within HPC
- You have a good understanding of HPC systems and are able to provide an holistic view to troubleshooting, including a working knowledge of Linux, Storage systems and High Speed Networks.
- You are an excellent written and verbal communicator in English with strong teamwork skills

You have experience in IT operations and familiar with ITIL service management support processes and best practice.
- You have an excellent customer focused mindset and are a problem solver, you remain calm and professional under pressure
- Quick learner, with ability to comprehend complex systems and you are motivated to help / guide others

Desirable skills:

- You have knowledge and experience with HPC systems
- You have previously worked with the Oil and Gas industry.

The role will require 7x24 coverage to respond to critical issues.

Full technical training will be provided for the HPE technology being deployed for this project.
