Responsibilities
- Assess and manage the health of newborn infants, including diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.
- Provide specialized care for premature infants, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing respiratory support.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Educate parents on newborn care, feeding techniques, and potential health concerns.
- Perform procedures such as intubation, umbilical line placement, and lumbar punctures.
- Monitor and interpret results from laboratory and imaging tests.
- Participate in medical research, education, and training related to neonatology.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient.
- Medical degree and completion of residency in pediatrics.
- Fellowship in neonatology from an accredited program.
- Board certification or eligibility for certification in neonatology.
- Excellent clinical skills and the ability to make critical decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
