Job Description and Requirements
**Job Summary**:
Conduct a geophysical investigation to identify the composition, structure, and other physical attributes of the earth of potential land, and specify any subsurface geologic hazards that may cause problems in suggested future constructions.
Responsible for assisting in the delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable services to ACES customers.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Plan and design geophysical survey and field exploration studies to find solutions to difficult subsurface geological problems.
- Develop and implement a quality assurance program for the processing of geophysical data including policies, standards, guidelines, acceptance measures, test procedures, and performance criteria.
- Develop technical and cost approaches for proposals that relate to both terrestrial and underwater geophysical surveys
- Prepare and/or review work plans for geophysical surveys.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure geophysical surveys are performed in accordance with plans and governing specifications, attend project meetings and engage with customers.
- Work with subcontractors/vendors to identify and secure required equipment and services to plan and conduct geophysical surveys.
- Supervise teams performing data collection activities and provide quality control of all processes and data products to ensure quality metrics are achieved.
- Receive and verify worksheets and equipment
- Ensure equipment is maintained, detect irregularities, and arranged for repairs when required.
- Conduct pre-project planning before going on site.
- Decide on the optimum geophysical method to be used which will be suitable for the site conditions.
- Use computers for data management, quality control, and communication between the office and field locations.
- Design, test, modify and repair geophysical equipment.
- Adapt data collection procedures and conduct Data QA/QC.
- Interpret and report on collected data to the team, clients, senior managers, or partners at meetings and presentations.
- Compile charts and reports.
- Write documentation and work logs.
- Provide Training to Field geophysicists.
- Conducting or monitoring daily quality control tests of equipment and methods and documenting test results
- Responsible for Geophysical data acquisition QC, processing and interpretation, and reporting of geophysical data, processing, and interpretation of various geophysical methods such as MASW, Electromagnetic, cross-hole, and downhole seismic, Tomography, Electrical resistivity methods, GPR, 3C Seismic using Vibrioses, Microgravity and Wireline logging.
- Perform processing and interpretation of seismic, resistivity, electromagnetic, downhole, and GPR data using data processing software to obtain final processed results suitable for mapping and interpretation.
- Contributing to ACES standards and practices for data management.
- Analyze data attribute information from the models to aid interpretation or support proposals for further studies.
- Improve existing techniques in data acquisition and mathematical processing and develop new techniques and methods.
- Provide technical support in the area of expertise throughout the sales and service delivery process.
- Assist in evaluating technical viability and overall appraisal of tenders as related to the area of expertise.
- Consult with the Geophysical Technical section head as required to optimize the technical design.
- Design seismic imaging workflows to improve the quality of subsurface images for a given geological setting.
- Define, build and submit test jobs, interpret test results, provide recommendations on parameters and recommend further testing if required.
- Decide on suitable geophysical measurement data-processing techniques and reporting.
- Process data using the appropriate technology and software.
- Interface consistently with customers and advise them regarding processing parameters.
- Validate the accuracy and efficiency of all testing and production job sequences.
- Ensure that processed data is delivered to customers on schedule.
- Archive projects.
- Assist the Technical Section Head with daily projects.
- Forecast resource requirements and report project status.
- Assist in real-time incident response, recovery, and investigation as related to the area of expertise.
- Keep abreast of developments and new technologies within seismic data processing and communication and data transfer techniques.
- Assist with identifying areas where new and cost-effective techniques can be applied.
- Explore opportunities for value-added products and services.
- Understand the competition's technical offering.
- Conduct site visits and check site activities.
- Delivering project assignments on time and on budget, consistently exceeding client expectations.
