Terrestrial Ecologist

In our 12 countries (Europe, Middle East, Asia) of operation, we are working on the production and distribution of low-carbon electricity, through the development of nuclear and renewable energies. We are also supporting the modernisation and development of energy grids, managing the setup and siting for new transmission and distribution networks, and using hydrogen to decarbonise the transport and industry sectors.
**Job Description** ROLE PURPOS**:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Conduct ecological surveys and assessments to evaluate terrestrial ecosystems, including vegetation, wildlife, and habitat characteristics.
- Design and implement research projects to assess the impact of human activities on terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystem functioning.
- Develop and implement conservation strategies for the protection and restoration of terrestrial habitats and species in the Middle East.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate ecological considerations into land use planning, infrastructure development, and natural resource management projects.
- Analyse ecological data using statistical methods and GIS technology to inform conservation decision-making and policy development.
- Prepare technical reports, scientific publications, and presentations to communicate research findings and recommendations to stakeholders, policymakers, and the public.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on ecological monitoring protocols, biodiversity assessments, and habitat restoration techniques.
- Engage with local communities, government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions to promote environmental education, awareness, and stewardship.
- Stay current with advancements in ecological research, conservation science, and environmental policy to inform best practices and adaptive management strategies.

**Qualifications** QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS**:

- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in terrestrial ecology research and conservation, with a focus on the Middle East region.
- Proficiency in conducting field surveys, species identification, and habitat assessments in diverse terrestrial ecosystems.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS) and GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience managing ecological research projects, including budgeting, logistics, and personnel coordination.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, biodiversity conservation policies, and sustainable land management practices in the Middle East.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic or other relevant languages is advantageous.
- Passion for environmental conservation and a commitment to promoting sustainable development in the Middle East region.
