**Basic Function**:
To provide specialized services in the diagnosis and management of patients with pediatric rheumatologic diseases

**Scope**:
Pediatric rheumatologist is a staff member of the internal medicine service division of the Specialty Medical Services Department. His responsibilities are divided between the outpatient rheumatology clinic (40%) and the inpatient services; Consultations and admissions (50%) and procedures (10 %). He/she works under the Unit Head of Specialty Pediatrics

**Principal Contacts**:
He is in daily contact with patients, their families, nurses internists, ward physicians and physicians of the specialty services and ambulatory service departments.

**Principal Duties**:

- To perform the professional duties of a pediatric rheumatologist in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the Unit Head of Specialty pediatrics and approved by the credentials committee.
- To perform his duties in Pediatric rheumatology clinic evaluating patients with rheumatologic disease. This accounts for 40% of his time.
- To provide care to his patients in the medical wards, routine procedures and in patient consultations, this accounts for 50% of his time.
- Keeps current on latest techniques, procedures and other development in the field in the 10% administrative time granted.
- Provides after working hours on call emergency coverage for rheumatologic emergencies.
- Participates in the monthly staff meeting of, the Pediatric service.
- Attends and contributes to the daily morning Unit Head meeting for the purpose of review of admissions and management problems.
- Participates and contributes to the educational activities in the service: daily conferences, weekly grand rounds, and monthly journal club.
- Performs and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (e.g. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Unit Head (e.g. Committee membership)
- Help in General Pediatrics when needed

**Experience**:

- Two years of fellowship training in rheumatology in a recognized training program
- One year of internship in a recognized training program.
- Two years of residency training in internal medicine in a recognized residency training program.

**Certifications/Other requirements as applicable**:

- Excellent command of verbal and written English.
- Ability to adjust to group practice in an industrial environment.
