Job Description

**Job Title:** Forklift Operator

**Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a forklift in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring the smooth flow of materials and products within our warehouse.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate the Forklift Safely: Ensure that the forklift is operated with extra care and safety as per the safe operations procedure.
  2. Pre-Operational Checks: Inspect the forklift physically and check the engine oil, hydraulic oil, and engine coolant daily before operating it.
  3. Material Handling: Use all possible safety measures while handling materials, and always drive slowly and do not overspeed while carrying a load.
  4. Knowledge of SWL: Know the SWL (Safe Working Load) of the forklift prior to operating it and take extra care while lifting weights equal to its SWL weight.
  5. Reporting and Maintenance: Report any abnormality found immediately to the mobile workshop or to the immediate Supervisor. If the supervisor is unavailable, park the forklift at a safe place, remove the key, and tag out the steering.
  6. Material Unloading and Stacking: Unload the materials from the trucks safely and stack them systematically with the help of helpers.
  7. Shift and Charge Materials: Shift the materials and any other materials as per the instructions of the Foreman/Supervisor.
  8. Production Support: Display the materials for cutting and charging to the mill, and charge to the mills at the charging grid according to the instructions of the Supervisor.
  9. Scrap Removal: Remove the production scrap from the mills from various areas and dump it in the scrap yard.
  10. Compliance and Safety: Carry out all jobs in accordance with the ISO and CARES requirements, understand and follow the organizational HS&E policies, and follow safety instructions related to their jobs.
  11. Reporting Incidents: Report damaged PPE, unsafe machines, or equipment to concerned staff, and report any accidents, near misses, or hazardous conditions to the concerned responsible party.
  12. Training and Development: Attend safety training planned for them, and have the right to say 'NO' to any unsafe work.
