Job Summary

Sanctuary International is seeking experienced Registered Nurses with a background in Ophthalmology to join our dynamic healthcare team in the UK. As an Ophthalmic Nurse, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and safe running of our services, supporting both theatres and outpatients across a range of clinics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation for patients, acting in the circulating role and assisting in the safe transfer and positioning of the patient.
  • Undertake duties such as assembling, checking, preparing, and coordinating the use of surgical equipment and consumables for Ophthalmology procedures.
  • Set up for vitrectomy surgery and have a full understanding of Phaco Machines/Instrumentation and setup.
  • Have a full knowledge of the eye and understanding of Biometry/Lens bank/Implants.
  • Support the surgeon in anticipating any potential problems in theatre and work as part of a theatre team.
  • Accurately record patient history relevant to the clinic and perform a comprehensive range of diagnostic procedures and clinical assessments.
  • Advise patients on the appropriate care for their eye conditions.
Requirements
  • Degree or Equivalent in Nursing: A qualification that opens doors to a rewarding career.
  • Hospital Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare setting ensures you're ready to hit the ground running.
  • IELTS or OET: Proof of language proficiency is required.
  • Theatre training/substantive experience required.
  • 3 years or more hospital eye service experience expected.
  • Biometry/Corneal Topography/OCT/FFA/IOP.
  • Intermediate Life Support training.
