Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage and historic heritage on public land across Gippsland. The role requires working with and maintaining relationships with GLAWAC and other traditional owners, as well as RAPs and partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a small, dedicated team of specialists in cultural heritage management.
  • Work closely with the Regional Forest and Planning Team, District staff, Aboriginal Partnerships team in RECAFP, and First Peoples and State Relations.
  • Identify, protect, and manage Aboriginal and historic heritage places, objects, and values.
Requirements:
  • An appropriate qualification or demonstrated practical experience in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology, or Anthropology.
  • Geographical Information System (GIS) skills or ability to acquire them.
  • Knowledge of relevant Aboriginal cultural heritage and historic heritage legislation and DEECA's Pupangarli Marnmarnepu Strategy.
