About the PositionWe are seeking an experienced Manager, Clinical Documentation Improvement to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the operations of the Clinical Documentation Improvement section.
This includes assigning, scheduling and reviewing work performed consistent with department approved policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Manage CDI function, plan and control all services and provide suitable techniques and support to CDI staff.
- Ensure alignment and communication with the relevant manager in the Hospital's other sites in coordination of day-to-day operations.
- Provide input on inpatient clinical records in complex or unclear cases and review the work of subordinates.
- Report any recurrent gaps, lack of compliance, and findings in the medical records to the head of the department.
- Collaborate with department resources such as Lead Coder, Lead Transcriptionist and CDI Team Leader as well as medical departments to improve documentation compliance amongst healthcare providers.
- Evaluate performance and productivity on a monthly basis and counsel them on areas of improvement.
- Initiate the development of needed updates of internal policies and procedures and operation manual for the section with the CDI manager in the Hospital's other sites.
- Develop and implement department policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of the section with the CDI manager in the Hospital's other sites.
- Conduct surveys to analyze information and forward unusual or significant matters to the Head of the department.
- Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the section's performance by preparing and reviewing monthly reports in relation to the approved objectives of the section that are in line with the Hospital's goals.
- PhD, Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Information Management or other Healthcare related discipline is required.
- Four years of related experience including two years at a senior/supervisory position with PhD, six years with Master's, or eight years with Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Certified Clinical Documentation Improvement or Health Information Management is preferred.
- Experience as an RHIA, CCC, CHIM and/or verifiable documentation review experience gained in tertiary care setting is preferred.
- Certified Medical Coder (AR-DRG) is preferred.
- Experience with medical insurance is preferred.
