Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygiene Specialist to join our team at General Hospital. As a key member of our dental department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the oral health and well-being of our patients.

About the Role:

  • To perform preventative therapy related to dental hygiene under the periodontist's directions.
  • To conduct scaling, root planning, and polishing of teeth.
  • To provide patient education on good oral hygiene practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares dental operatory by setting up for each procedure using aseptic techniques.
  2. Reviews medical records for health status and ensures patients requiring pre-med and/or lab work are properly prepared.
  3. Evaluates patient dentition in a preliminary screening and examines gingival tissues.
  4. Documents clinical findings, plaque scores, dental histories, treatment rendered, and conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by Dentist.
  5. Instructs patients on proper dental care and diet for good oral health.
  6. Prepares and administers topical anaesthetic gel and local anaesthetic injections necessary for hygiene treatment.
  7. Performs supra and sub gingival scaling including comprehensive root debridement.
  8. Applies topical fluoride and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene is required.
  • Two years of related experience with Bachelor's is required (Grade 08).
  • Four years as Dental Hygienist at General Hospital is preferred (Grade 09).
