Job Overview

The Senior Design Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that client objectives are met from a design management perspective. This involves acting as the key day-to-day client interface, monitoring the preparation of specifications, and commenting on same.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Chairing and preparing Design and Design Coordination Meetings to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  2. Maintaining Safety in Design and timely preparation of Design Risk Assessments.
  3. Collaborating with designers and supervision consultants to agree on standards for mock-ups.
  4. Working with clients and designers to select materials, which may involve overseas visits.
  5. Responding to Contractor Notices, reviewing and challenging responses before preparing draft Determinations.
  6. Mitigating, monitoring, and reporting on design risks throughout the project.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 15 years' experience in Design Management.
  • A degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • Hospitality, Museum, Complex Structural Assets, Large-scale mixed-use development, or Construction experience is desirable.
  • Exceptional design management skills and associated technical capabilities.
