Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled ED IV / Instrument Designer to join our team at John Wood Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas upstream, downstream, refining, and petrochemical projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop field instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas projects, including FEED and detail design phases.
  • Originate new and revise existing engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with company procedures, standards, and checklists.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Conduct and receive training related to job requirements, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
  • Plan and manage work effectively, ensuring timely completion of projects within allocated man-hours.
  • Interface and communicate effectively with project managers, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with all disciplines to prepare and develop deliverables, ensuring incorporation of input from other teams.
  • Perform site visits to verify site conditions and markup drawings, as well as conduct as-built activities.
  • Manage deliverables submission, ensuring quality checks and proper record management.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations, including ISS, IIS, control room/rack room layouts, point and lines, block diagrams, instrument sizing calcs, Boolean logic, Cause & Effect diagrams, Control Narrative, and Functional specifications.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in oil and gas, hydrocarbon refinery, offshore, mining, or infrastructure industries, with engineering design project experience.
  • BSc in Engineering Electronics, Electrical, or Chemical.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, SPI, Navisworks/Smartplant review, and other relevant software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Full knowledge of Aramco, Sabic, and Royal Commission standards.
  • Technical bid evaluation, vendor document review, and subcontract scope management experience.
