About This Role

We are seeking a highly experienced SAS Engineer to join our team at Schneider Electric in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As a senior engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning, and services of substation automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead for commissioning activities on a project, ensuring that Schneider Electric is presented as a professional organization in all interactions with the customer.
  • Interface with customers and external providers for approval of plant acceptance criteria, open issues closure, and performance tests.
  • Coordinate site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance certification.
  • Represent the commissioning function at project meetings and design review meetings.
  • Contribute to the creation of the project commissioning philosophy and manage its implementation.
  • Develop standard processes and tools to ensure compliance with required safety regulations and contractual requirements.
  • Assist in preparing proposal or presentation of engineering projects or programs, including bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.
  • Support contract managers in issuing claims for new or changed scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.
  • Create work plans and cost estimates in one's area of responsibility and review and approve scope, budget, and schedule for assignments.
  • Identify potential variation requests to support contract claims and report any contract or quality or program or cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution.
  • Interact with customers, officials, contractors, and others, attending project meetings and presenting specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain function to ensure technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed to with potential suppliers.
  • Provide technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accept supplied equipment or services as fit for purpose.
  • Maintain a network of engineering professionals and share engineering best practices across different projects and disciplines.
  • Develop, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and tools to ensure engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering and 2 years' experience as a Commissioning Engineer of SAS system and products.
  • EPAS L1/L2 and L3 training/certification.
  • Experience in executing projects including EcoSUI, EPAS GTW, C264, and different system Architectures – PRP, RSTP.
  • Knowledge of Substation automation systems and different communication protocols, including IEC101, IEC104, Modbus, DNP3.
  • Taken large and medium complex projects in operation in IEC 61850.
  • Experience in EPAS design, configuration, and Testing & Commissioning phases.
  • Proven problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with a sound understanding of where escalation is required.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask across many projects, highly organized, and efficient coordination skills.
  • Knowledge about NG standards.
  • Communication and presentation skills, proficiency in both spoken and written English language is required.
