Key Responsibilities

The primary role is to oversee long-term engineering studies related to plant instrumentation, manage reliability improvement programs, and ensure proper design and installation of instrumentation equipment in accordance with company standards.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  1. Design and review of instrumentation systems, technical evaluations, review of vendor documents, and assist during commissioning of existing and new installations.
  2. Provides input to department and functions policies and procedures in line with the company objectives.
  3. Review and provide support for Process Control System design, including engineering and factory testing/site testing.
  4. Prepare and execute maintenance projects, taking into account technology compatibility and financial feasibility.
  5. Provide technical guidance to assess plant technical issues during operations and project executions.
  6. Track and monitor equipment performance.
  7. Conduct high-level electrical problem-solving.
  8. Work with other site expertise and 3rd-party engineering firms to address long-term instrumentation challenges.
  9. Work along with reliability and operational teams on bad actor eliminations by applying root cause analysis methods.
  10. Develop and maintain equipment maintenance strategies by applying RCM methodology.
  11. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  12. Ensure that all unit equipment documentation is complete, accurate, and updated (data and spec sheets).
  13. Review and update of Instrumentation procedures.

Job Qualifications

Proficient in writing and editing of project specifications and technical reports.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Advanced troubleshooting skills and well-versed in root cause analysis methodology.

Comfortable performing in an environment that requires independent evaluation, judgment, and decision-making.

Able to demonstrate technical knowledge with multiple plant control systems used in chemical/petrochemical/oil and gas facilities, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), and programmable logic controllers (PLC).

Education

Education: in Instrumentation/Electronics/Diploma in Instrumentation/Electronics.

Experience: 7 years' experience in a heavy Chemical/Petrochemical industry as Instrumentation Engineer. 10 years' experience in heavy Chemical/Petrochemical industry as Instrumentation specialist.
