Regional Environmental Specialist for AWS Infrastructure

AWS is a global leader in cloud infrastructure, and our environmental team plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with local regulations and driving sustainability initiatives worldwide. Our Regional Environmental Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental standards and policies to support regional operations and construction teams.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong knowledge of environmental regulations, particularly those applicable in Saudi Arabia, and experience leading teams in complex projects. They will work closely with internal and external partners, including government entities, contractors, and consultants, to ensure regulatory compliance and drive environmentally responsible practices within the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing compliance with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations and Amazon policy
- Developing regional strategic programs integrating with engineering, construction, and operations to drive an environmentally responsible culture
- Leading regulatory agency interactions, permit evaluation, and processing, as well as introducing new processes and technologies
- Ensuring work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees meets Amazon standards
- Developing environmental metrics to measure, monitor, and forecast performance
- Conducting thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement
This is a dynamic role that requires strong leadership and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to prioritize multiple complex assignments concurrently. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Arabic and possess a deep understanding of Saudi Arabia's federal and provincial environmental regulations and standards.
