Job Title: Aircraft Design Specialist

Aircraft Design Specialists play a pivotal role in ensuring the structural integrity of aircraft. At BAE Systems, we require an expert with extensive experience as an aircraft design engineer to advise on all structural design matters for aircraft structural repairs and modifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on methods and data used for repairs to maintain structural integrity and adhere to standard procedures.
  • Identify and liaise on repairs requiring referral to the Design Authority.
  • Undertake damage assessments and provide advice on repair action required.
  • Provide assistance during the embodiment of aircraft and AGE (Aircraft Ground Equipment) structural repairs and modifications.
  • Investigate and make recommendations on inspection schedules and maintenance requirements for recurring structural problems.
  • Prepare and draft briefs for formal and informal meetings.
  • Develop and deliver instruction for RSAF Officer structural familiarisation training.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Honours Degree in Structures related discipline.
  • Recognised course in aircraft engineering or related engineering discipline at military or civilian school of technical training.
  • Extensive experience as aircraft Design Engineer on SBDCP aircraft types (Hawk/Tornado) or Typhoon.
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and formulate solutions.
  • High quality report writing and drawing production skills using Microsoft Office and AutoCAD packages.
