Job Description:

As a Junior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the finance department by assisting with daily accounting tasks and ensuring accuracy in all financial operations. You'll work closely with other departments to ensure the financial health of the business and help drive the success of our growing e-commerce platform.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. General Accounting Support: Assist in the preparation and processing of journal entries, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
  2. Account Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank, credit card, and merchant account reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are identified and resolved.
  3. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Assist in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments, and maintaining positive relationships with vendors and customers.
  4. E-commerce Platform Integration: Reconcile e-commerce sales and payment processing from platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal). Ensure accurate recording of revenue, fees, and refunds.
  5. Inventory Management: Work with the operations team to ensure accurate tracking and accounting of inventory, including recording purchases, returns, and stock adjustments.
  6. Assist with Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports (income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow) and support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  7. Tax & Compliance Support: Assist with VAT, Zakat, and other tax filings, ensuring the company remains compliant with local tax laws and e-commerce regulations.
  8. Data Entry & Documentation: Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and assist in audit preparation by ensuring all required documents are readily available.
  9. Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize operational expenses, ensuring they align with the company's goals and objectives.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. 2-4 years of experience in accounting, ideally in a startup or e-commerce environment.
  3. Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices, with a keen eye for detail.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
  5. Experience with e-commerce platforms and payment processors (Shopify, WooCommerce, PayPal, Stripe) is a plus.
  6. Familiarity with cloud-based financial systems and inventory tracking is desirable.
  7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing company.
  8. Proactive and adaptable, able to work independently and as part of a small team.
  9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
