We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Data Engineer to join our team at Ejada Systems Limited.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of data engineering operations specialists, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of data engineering services. This role focuses on team leadership, operational excellence, and collaboration within the data engineering domain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear direction, goals, and performance expectations to the data engineering team.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members, fostering their technical skills and professional growth.
  • Manage team workload, prioritize tasks, and ensure balanced resource allocation.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, provide feedback, and address any performance issues.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and mutual support.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the data engineering team, ensuring smooth execution of tasks and adherence to SLAs.
  • Manage and prioritize change requests, coordinating with relevant teams (PMOs, Development) to ensure timely and effective implementation.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of data platform stability and availability, participating in troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of preventive and corrective actions to minimize environment disruptions.
  • Monitor data platform performance, identify potential issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Engage with product vendors for enhancements and issue resolution.

Team Leadership:

  • Provide clear direction, goals, and performance expectations to the data engineering team.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members, fostering their technical skills and professional growth.
  • Manage team workload, prioritize tasks, and ensure balanced resource allocation.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including PMOs, development teams, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address data-related challenges and ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Participate in command center bridges for issue troubleshooting and resolution.

Qualifications and Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer and systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in the data management domain (BI, Data Engineering, and Governance), with at least 2 years in a team lead or supervisory role. Strong experience in data management operations, including data pipelines, business intelligence, data quality, data catalog, master data management, big data, data virtualization, and data APIs. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of technical professionals. Experience in managing change requests and coordinating with cross-functional teams. Solid understanding of data platform maintenance and stability best practices. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with IT service management (ITSM) tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud computing concepts.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, such as Python or PowerShell.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and optimization tools.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in English is a must.
  • Fluency in Arabic is a plus.
