FAO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced National Professional Officer to support the development of aromatic plants in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The successful candidate will work closely with government authorities, local and international institutions to promote the image of FAO and its activities in the region.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  1. Advising and liaising with government authorities and local institutions on FAO's activities and other UN agencies.
  2. Promoting the image of FAO through advocacy of the Organization's mandate, programmes, national priorities and activities.
  3. Coordinating and managing the maintenance of country data on food, crops, livestock, forestry and fisheries.
  4. Producing technical, economic and policy studies as required.
  5. Identifying, formulating and preparing programme and project proposals.
  6. Briefing, training and supervising lower grade level programme staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant production, breeding, agronomy or a related field, with at least five years of experience in development of aromatic plants and trade, as well as project management.

The candidate should also have working knowledge of Arabic and limited knowledge of English.
