Job Title: Chief Technical Advisor

Job Summary: Asterix Communications is seeking a highly experienced Chief Technical Advisor to lead our team in natural resource management, sustainable land management, and climate change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and coordinate the work of a technical team, fostering an environment of cooperation and motivation.
  2. Develop and implement effective project implementation strategies, ensuring the delivery of project activities.
  3. Provide technical expertise in sustainable land management, ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, and climate change.
  4. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, negotiating and building consensus among different groups.
  5. Model UN values and ethical standards, demonstrating integrity and fairness in all interactions.

Requirements:

  1. Advanced degree in Natural Sciences or Environmental Sciences, or multidisciplinary qualifications in Natural Resources Management, Climate Change, Sustainable Forest Management, Sustainable Land Management, Agriculture, or a related field.
  2. At least 10 years of experience in natural resource management, including sustainable land management and restoration, biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, sustainable forest management, water resources management, and/or climate resilience.
  3. Minimum of 7 years of experience with multi-lateral environmental agreements, particularly the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, drylands development, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
  4. Minimum of 7 years of experience in supporting, leading, and/or coordinating technical experts, including project staff and consultants.
  5. Demonstrated experience in Results Based Management for development project implementation.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in dryland countries and/or Saudi Arabia is highly desirable.
  • Fluent (oral and written) in English. Working level knowledge of Arabic is an added value.
