The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing mechanical systems for various building projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. This role involves designing mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other essential systems, ensuring they meet performance, efficiency, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement mechanical systems for building projects.
  2. Produce detailed design documentation, including drawings, calculations, and specifications to meet client requirements and applicable building codes and standards.
  3. Perform system sizing, load calculations, and energy modeling to optimize the performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of mechanical systems.
  4. Collaborate with other disciplines (architects, electrical engineers, structural engineers) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into the overall building design.
  5. Liaise with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to clarify design requirements, provide technical support, and ensure the smooth progression of the project.
  6. Ensure adherence to local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  7. Stay up-to-date with the latest design software, industry practices, and regulatory changes to ensure the best possible solutions.
  8. Perform design reviews and quality checks to ensure the accuracy and quality of deliverables.
  9. Integrate energy-efficient systems and sustainable technologies into designs to meet environmental and energy goals.
  10. Assist in achieving building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) by designing energy-efficient and environmentally responsible systems.
  11. Provide technical support to construction teams during installation and commissioning of mechanical systems.
  12. Address design issues that arise during the construction phase and suggest solutions to ensure the systems are installed according to specifications.
  13. Conduct site inspections and performance testing to ensure systems operate as designed.
  14. Maintain comprehensive documentation of designs, system specifications, and calculations.
  15. Prepare and present reports for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, with a focus on building services or HVAC design.
  3. Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant engineering tools.
  4. Solid understanding of mechanical building systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) and their integration into overall building designs.
  5. Strong knowledge of local building codes, standards (ASHRAE, CIBSE), and regulations related to mechanical systems.
  6. Experience working on commercial, residential, or industrial projects is required.
  7. Familiarity with sustainable building design practices, energy efficiency measures, and green building certifications (LEED, BREEAM) is a plus.
