Culinary Artisan

We are seeking a skilled Sushi Chef to elevate our culinary experience and contribute to our reputation as one of the top sushi destinations in the area.

The estimated salary for this role is $55,000 - $70,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for creating a diverse range of sushi dishes using fresh, high-quality ingredients. This includes preparing maki, nigiri, sashimi, and other types of sushi, as well as selecting fresh fruits and vegetables to complement our menu.

You will also be expected to add unique flavors to our sushi rolls using ginger, rice vinegar, wasabi, and soy sauce, when appropriate. Additionally, you will manage food preparation activities, such as boiling rice, and coordinate with our wait staff to ensure proper cooking and meet special requests and dietary requirements.

Other responsibilities include preparing appetizers, soups, and salads that align with Japanese cuisine principles, monitoring food stock, and placing orders as needed. You will also have the opportunity to recommend new, modern recipes, such as sushi burgers, and maintain high standards of hygiene in all cooking areas.

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

• Work experience as a Sushi Chef or in an Asian restaurant setting;
• Strong knowledge of various sushi types and techniques;
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure;
• Excellent team spirit and communication skills;
• Availability to work during business hours, including weekends and evenings;
• Flexibility to take on various shifts;
• Certification from a culinary school is highly desirable.
