Job Summary

The Structural Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and integrity of buildings and structures. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the documentation of structural drawings, collaborating with architects and MEP teams, and designing new builds and renovation schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan and conduct independent work, applying engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to evaluate, select, and adapt solutions.
  2. Develop new approaches to problems, prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, and monitor work for compliance with codes and accepted engineering practices.
  3. Analyze and configure structural components to ensure quality design, considering factors such as geotechnical properties, wind loads, seismic loads, and fire protection.
  4. Review design criteria and ensure adequacy of design, analyzing structural elements to guarantee quality and compliance with codes.
  5. Examine loading plans and ensure compliance with codes and project operational purposes, determining pressures on structural components.
  6. Study the impact of temporary works on structural elements, providing calculations, details, and ensuring compliance.
  7. Liaise with designers to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the proposed project.
  8. Provide safe structural solutions to meet architectural and MEP requirements, preparing shop drawings and submitting them for approval.
  9. Review tender DWGs versus IFC DWGs, providing a report of changes to the technical manager for the commercial department.
  10. Prepare material lists for structural elements, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project schedules.
  11. Contribute to the preparation of technical packages related to the structural scope, reviewing structural offers and ensuring adherence to codes and project design.

Additional Responsibilities

Job Knowledge & Skills

Extensive structural knowledge for Buildings, Heavy Civils, and Infrastructure works, with expertise in preparing reports, designs, and drawings. Ability to liaise confidently with clients on structural matters, review structural problems, and make recommendations for rectification. ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, are required for success in this role.

Job Experience

Minimum 8 years of working experience, with 5 years of relevant experience and 2 years of GCC experience preferred.

Competencies

Collaboration, Accountability, Resilience, Quality, Leadership, Cost Management L3, Drawings/Specifications L3, QA/QC L3, Geotechnical Engineering L3, and HSE L3.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, with a Professional degree in MMUP Engineer Registration (UPDA).
