Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Air Traffic Control Instructor Lead to join our team at Vectrus. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing training in all aspects of controller operations, utilizing a deep understanding of standard Air Traffic Control (ATC) concepts, practices, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training Program Development: Plan, schedule, direct, and supervise the facility training of assigned Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel in accordance with AR 95-2 regulations.
  • Classroom and Self-Study Training: Supervise and conduct classroom and self-study training sessions to ensure effective learning and skill development.
  • Training Materials and Aids: Develop local course materials, training aids, and control scenarios to supplement and enhance the Facility Training Program (FTP).
  • Evaluation and Analysis: Evaluate and analyze the capabilities and progress of ATC personnel assigned to the facility, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Training Records: Maintain accurate training records to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Position Qualification Evaluations: Conduct position qualification evaluations for ATC personnel to ensure they meet the required standards.
  • Training Recommendations: Recommend to the facility chief controllers who require proficiency or remedial training based on personal observations, supervisor comments, and other relevant factors.
  • Exams and Evaluations: Administer biennial written exams and conduct skill evaluations as required to assess ATC personnel's knowledge and skills.
  • Facility Rating and Training: Ensure facility rating and completion of facility management and administration training before assuming the duties of this position.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma required; Associates degree or an equivalent combination of college-level courses, military training, and job site experience may be substituted.
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years experience as a DoD or FAA Controller; 7 years experience preferred.
  • ATC Training Management Experience: Required ATC Training Management experience.
  • GCA/Approach Control Experience: GCA/Approach Control experience highly desirable.
  • Supervisory Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience in a supervisory/training role.
  • Independence: Reports to Assigned Air Traffic Control Chief. Works within the policies and procedures of the contract. Authority to coordinate staff functions to meet goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for the supervision and management of all personnel placed in charge of.
  • Aviation Operations Management: Demonstrated knowledge of Aviation Operations Management specific to fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
  • Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Employment Qualifications: Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include medical, drug testing, background checks, etc.
