Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Fire Protection Specialist to join our team at KBR. As a Fire Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the design and implementation of fire protection systems for medium to large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop fire water basis of design reports, fire water and foam water demand calculations, and prepare P&IDs for fire water networks, foam water systems, fire water pumps & tanks, and fire water coverage layouts.
  • Prepare fire protection equipment data sheets & specifications, safety equipment data sheets & specifications, and fire hazardous equipment schedules.
  • Perform steady-state hydraulic calculations & transient analysis for fire water networks, foam water systems, and water spray systems.
  • Develop fire & gas philosophies, fire & gas detection layouts, block diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, and 3-D mapping studies.
  • Prepare emergency escape routes, safety sign layouts, safety shower layouts, and safety equipment layouts (SCBA, SABA, windsocks, extinguishers).
  • Prepare third-party scope of works, such as EIA, PHA, technical bid evaluations, review vendor non-material requisitions, and participate in and review reports for safety studies like PrHA, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, BRA, QRA, consequences modeling, and prepare action close-outs.
  • Prepare MTOs and construction scope of work documents, attend 3D model reviews, develop process safety discipline budgets, and review proposals with estimate manhours.
Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Fire Engineering, or related field, and a minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Sound knowledge of basic engineering principles, P&ID/PFD development, hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, safety devices, and experience in hydraulics software (e.g., Pipenet, Elite).
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities to work both within a team and independently, handle work group leader activities, and be proficient in English, oral and written.
  • Familiarity with the International Fire Code, NFPA Standards, Saudi Aramco engineering standards and procedures, and Saudi Building Code.
  • Ability to handle responsibility and complete projects within schedule, and excellent technical presentation skills required.
  • Preferred relevant registration/certifications such as Professional Engineer (P.E), CFPS, HAZOP, Functional safety, and SCE.
