About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Mechanical Engineering Discipline Lead to join our team at Asterix Communications. As a key member of our Technical Excellence Team, you will be responsible for leading our MEP team with technical expertise and serving as the primary technical authority for the delivery team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and oversight to the MEP team, ensuring that all projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality and technical excellence.
  2. Developing Quality and Process Management: Develop and implement QA/QC processes, apply and oversee policies related to process, quality, and training, and ensure accuracy and technical correctness in QAQC documentation.
  3. Team Development and Motivation: Train, develop, and guide engineers and design teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  4. Project Contribution: Contribute to all project stages from inception to detailed delivery, conducting regular stage reviews and gathering client feedback for improvements.
  5. Documentation and Standards: Standardize documentation, including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications, and update specifications and work with site teams to integrate lessons learned.
  6. Industry Engagement and Knowledge Sharing: Keep the team updated on industry developments, technologies, and innovations, engaging in professional societies, contributing papers, and participating in conferences.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Building Services / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chartered member of an internationally recognized professional body (e.g. CIBSE, MIET, ASHRAE).
  • Minimum of 12 years' experience, with 8 years' experience in the Middle East.
  • Proven track record in building services design across different types of sectors, including high-rise, commercial, residential, retail, healthcare, industrial, refurbishment, etc.
  • Proven record as a Discipline Lead Expert and a discipline lead on complex projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of local and international design standards, BSEN, CIBSE, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Principles, HVAC, CHW, and FLS design.
  • Sustainable design practices and technologies.
