Under supervision of Registered Nurses, the Assistant Nurse assist in certain support activities related to both patient care and ward/department functions.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Provide bedstate patient care under the supervision of RN.
  • Maintains Confidentiality of all patient related data.

  • Transport patients for examinations and treatments.

  • Adhere to JCIA & CBAHI standards.
  • Responsible to provide patient and family education.
  • Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
  • Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
  • Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned by charge nurse within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Patient Care Assistance:

    • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and using the restroom.
    • Take vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration) and record the data accurately.
    • Provide comfort measures such as repositioning patients and offering support during activities.

  • Support for Nurses and Healthcare Providers:

    • Help with basic medical procedures under the supervision of registered nurses.
    • Assist with administering medications as directed by a registered nurse.
    • Prepare patients for examinations or treatments by ensuring they are positioned correctly and have necessary supplies.

  • Patient Comfort and Emotional Support:

    • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, especially those who are anxious or distressed.
    • Act as a liaison between patients and nursing staff to address patient concerns or requests.

  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as registered nurses, doctors, and support staff, to provide comprehensive patient care.
