Performs a range of direct therapeutic services to patients with a variety of impairments. Conducts physical examination, develops a customized treatment plan, and administers therapy for patients who may have routine acute and or chronic presentations to restore body functions, manage movement disorders, relieve pain, and prevent disability arising from diseases, injury, or conditions occurring throughout the life span. Promotes wellness understanding and behaviors with the guidance and support of mentor and senior staff. Practice according to professional codes, JHAH and JCI policies and procedures
Scope
Practices within John Hopkins Aramco Healthcare Nursing & Clinical Services Department in Dhahran, AlHasa, Udhailiyah, Ras Tanura and Abqaiq in accordance with professional codes and defined organizational policies and procedures.
The associate physical therapist is responsible to rehabilitate patients with various diseases and conditions by following referral from the Physician / Surgeon/ healthcare professional, providing physical therapy assessment, establishing functional and measurable goals, and planning intervention including discharge planning in collaboration with the patient/family and medical team. These interventions may include exercise prescription, manual therapy, electro-physical agents (such as cryotherapy, heat therapy, and electrotherapy), in addition to activities for the restoration of basic motor skills necessary for functional mobility and gait.
Therapist is responsible for recording, and evaluating the patients' responses and progress throughout therapy and collaborating in timely manner with team.
Position provides work direction to Physical/Occupational Therapy Assistant independently and with guidance of mentor and senior rehabilitation staff. Receives support and guidance from mentor and senior rehabilitation staff. Work hours are assigned to meet operational needs. Hours may include on call and scheduled overtime.
Principal Contacts
INTERNAL: Daily with mentor and senior rehabilitation staff who provide guidance and support, Physicians / Surgeons, nurses Physical/Occupational Therapy Assistant and other medical staff members, patients and families to collaborate/coordinate and report the physical therapy and rehabilitation program..
EXTERNAL: Occasionally with other company employees during outreach activities and hospital surveys or with outside medical professionals visiting JAHA.
Principal Duties
Performs below duties with guidance and support of mentors and senior staff.
ASSESSMENT
- Performs patient assessment, establishes functional goals, and designs a treatment plan in collaboration with the patient and family.
- Assesses educational needs of the patient, family, or caregiver and provides education and educational material to meet those needs, documenting intervention in the PTR
PLANNING
- Plans for rehabilitation needs at discharge with family and multi inter/disciplinary team
- Plans and organizes own patient workload training sessions and straightforward activities with guidance and support of mentor or senior staff
IMPLEMENTATION/INTERVENTION
- Provides intervention in accordance with evidence based practice the physician's orders and established plan of care.
- Prescribes exercise and administers therapeutic techniques including but not limited to therapy various forms of electrotherapy, heat therapy, and cryotherapy.
- Prescribes and issue patients with walking aids and supportive devices and instructs patients in their use
- For each patient treated documents in the medical record using SOAP format. Documentation includes an initial assessment, progress notes, and a discharge summary family teaching and home exercise program.
- Demonstrates/instructs patients and families in procedures to be continued at home.
- Communicates with patient, family, caregivers, and members of the multi/interdisciplinary team to promote maximum benefit of care and rehabilitation.
- Discusses progress with the medical team, recommends changes; advises when the patient is ready for discharge from the therapy program.
EVALUATION
- Assesses the effectiveness of treatment and modifies treatment to achieve goals.
- Search's and appraises evidence to address a specific question/issue arising in practice with guidance
Bachelor's degree/equivalent is required.
Completion of 1 year internship.
Completion of a formal program of professional Physical Therapy education recognized by JHAH and current licensure as a professional registered Physical Therapist.
Experience
Completed 1 year internship in a JCI accredited hospital.
Must be of Saudi nationality.
2. Must be registered on the Human Resources Development Fund website.
3. Must hold a diploma from accredited institutes and technical, health, or administrative colleges, with a duration of at least one academic year (two semesters).
4. Must hold a bachelor's degree or higher from a Saudi or internationally accredited university recognized by the Ministry of Education (must attach the certificate equivalency decision issued by the Ministry of Education if the degree is from a foreign university).
5. Should not have previous work experience in the public or private sector exceeding one calendar year.
6. Age should not exceed 30 calendar years.
7. Should not be currently employed in the public or private sector.
8. Should not be listed as "prohibited" by the Fund.
9. Should not have benefited from the "Training Balance" of the Graduates
Development Program (TAMHEER) with a full benefit of no more than two opportunities totaling 6 months for the two opportunities
Certifications/Other requirements as applicable
Fluent spoken and written English. Spoken Arabic desirable.
Current BLS Certification.
Computer proficiency required, Microsoft office applications preferred
