Strategic Planning and Leadership
Engineering Strategy: Develop and execute the organization's engineering strategy to meet business goals, ensuring that engineering initiatives align with the company's overall objectives.
Innovation Leadership: Drive technological innovation and the development of new engineering solutions or products. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to keep the company at the forefront of engineering excellence.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of engineers. Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement within the engineering department.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with senior leadership, including the CEO, CTO, and other department heads, to ensure alignment of engineering priorities with business objectives.
Project Management and Delivery
Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Resource Allocation: Manage resources effectively, ensuring that engineering teams have the necessary tools, skills, and time to execute projects successfully. This may involve managing staffing levels, budgets, and engineering equipment.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks to engineering projects (e.g., technical, operational, financial) and implement mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project delivery.
Quality Assurance: Ensure engineering processes meet quality standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and efficiency of engineering operations.
Budgeting and Cost Management
Budget Development: Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
Cost Control: Monitor the costs associated with engineering projects and ensure cost-effective solutions are implemented without compromising quality or safety.
Financial Reporting: Provide regular financial and performance reports to senior management regarding the engineering department's budget, project progress, and key metrics.
Team Development and Performance Management
Talent Management: Build a high-performance engineering team through recruitment, training, and professional development. Attract and retain top engineering talent by fostering an environment that promotes growth and innovation.
Performance Evaluation: Set performance goals for engineering staff, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback to support continuous development.
Succession Planning: Develop and implement succession plans for key engineering leadership positions to ensure continuity and reduce potential knowledge gaps.
Product Development and Lifecycle Management
Product Design and Development: Oversee the design, development, and optimization of products, ensuring that engineering solutions meet customer needs, performance specifications, and regulatory standards.
Lifecycle Management: Manage the engineering lifecycle of products and systems, ensuring that they are continuously evaluated for improvements, repairs, and upgrades as necessary.
Collaboration with R&D: Work closely with research and development teams to guide the development of new products and ensure the engineering department's efforts are aligned with new product innovations.

Desired candidate profile

Bachelor's Degree, or Higher education qualification or equivalent in engineering fields.
Two to Three years' prior tenure in a commercial leadership role
International luxury hotel chain background
Pre-opening experience is required
GCC experience is required
Previous KSA Experience is preferred
English fluency is required
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all engineering projects adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental laws. Stay current on legal and regulatory requirements affecting engineering practices.
Environmental and Sustainability Goals: Promote sustainable engineering practices by leading initiatives to minimize environmental impact, reduce waste, and optimize energy use in engineering processes.
Technology and Process Improvement
Technology Implementation: Implement new technologies that enhance the efficiency, safety, and capabilities of engineering processes. Oversee the integration of new tools or platforms that improve engineering productivity and accuracy.
Process Optimization: Identify areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to optimize engineering workflows, reduce inefficiencies, and increase productivity.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
Reporting to Senior Leadership: Regularly report to the CEO, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders on engineering performance, project statuses, and strategic initiatives.
External Relationships: Manage relationships with external stakeholders, such as vendors, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure that the engineering department operates smoothly and complies with industry requirements.
Customer Focus: Maintain a customer-centric approach in engineering operations by ensuring that customer requirements and expectations are met through engineering excellence.
