Perform ultrasound procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention and produce high quality images on appropriate archival systems.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Perform ultrasound imaging and related procedures in all areas of ultrasound
- Record patient images via appropriate archival media, transfer images as needed.
- Participate in performance improvement activities in the department.
- Maintain appropriate quality control records and participates in routine equipment testing and maintenance.
- Review clinical information regarding patient along with images with the Radiologist.
- Print images onto appropriate media.
- Provide permanent data of procedures as required or requested.
- Maintain departmental standards related to Quality Assurance controls.
- Train new staff on the ultrasound system and department procedures.
- Practice sterile techniques maintain aseptic conditions and use universal precautions at all times.
- Perform first aid on patients until further assistance can be obtained to maintain patient's health.
- Adhere to on-call, holiday, and weekend schedules as prepared by the manager.
- Exercise strict patient confidentiality.
- Ensure adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, KSA and local requirements, and JCIA & CBAHI standards.
- Provide patient and family education as per the needs.
- Participate in routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed
- Complete forms and maintains records, logs and reports of work performed.
- Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
- Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
- Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his knowledge, skills and abilities.
Patient Preparation:
Explain procedures to patients and address any concerns.
Position patients appropriately on the ultrasound table.
Ensure patient comfort and safety during the procedure.
Imaging Procedures:
Operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images of internal structures (such as the abdomen, pelvis, or heart).
Use Doppler ultrasound for assessing blood flow and other specialized procedures.
Adjust settings on ultrasound machines to obtain optimal images.
Quality Control & Maintenance:
Regularly check and calibrate ultrasound equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Troubleshoot technical issues and maintain equipment in good working condition.
Collaboration with Medical Team:
Work with physicians and other medical professionals to interpret ultrasound images and assist in diagnosis.
Communicate any observations or concerns about the images to the physician.
Record Keeping & Reporting:
Maintain accurate patient records, including imaging results.
Prepare reports and submit them to the medical team for further evaluation.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of human anatomy and ultrasound technology.
Excellent communication and patient care skills.
Attention to detail for capturing high-quality images.
Ability to follow specific instructions from physicians.
Good manual dexterity to handle ultrasound probes and equipment.
